CONGO LOVE
Refreshing programme featuring visionary music videos, TV show
appearances, live footage and other documents relating to 1970s and
80s Congolese pop music. Including artists like M'Pongo Love,
Orchestre Bella-Bella, Trio Madjesi, M’Bilia Bel… These videos defined
the stars. They also made fresh, inventive uses of the technology of
the time, setting up playful ideas in mindblowing pieces that created
a whole visual idiom. Historical documents, ecstatic music, pure
pleasure. Curated by Xavier Garcia Bardon.
