Sami - I was happily surprised to see some really imaginitive low-fi filmmaking on the new DVD. I was wondering about some of the cameras you used? Which super-8 camera, 16mm? I loved the look and feel of the films you made. Also, it looked like you used some nice down-and-dirty effects like drawing on the film, and some "objects" in front of the lens to create some better than computer-bullshit effects. Can you shine some light on that brother?
Canon? Nice. I know that camera. Beauty.
I think it was the first film on the DVD - the great piece where you're filming the person jumping and playing in the snowy forest...one of my favorite pieces in the set...there's a few moments near the end of the piece where the image begins to bend. Like you are holding something in front of the lens that kind of mutates the picture a bit. It was kick-ass...what did you use?
This piece in particular reminded me of Dog Star Man a bit...which is one of the greatest films ever. So, you rocked me.
That goes a bit into the territory of revealing secrets from my magic hat, but lets just say that it was the one I was talking of. :) I havent seen Dog man star but Ill definately have to check it out.
DVD also includes the documentary about Erkki, directed by Mika Taanila, who has also besides documentaries, made experimental short films f.e. 'Optical Sound'. All of his documentaries are also worth checking out.
